We’ve admittedly had a tough weather for our August trips to Laudholm, but we’re not quite ready to throw in the towel. We’re headed back to the preserve for some spring birding.
The preserve features a large diversity of species to see as we walk through forests, open grassland, marshlands, and beaches. Among the many birds we hope to see are Bobolinks, Piping Plovers and Willets.
We will meet in the parking lot of the Wells Reserve at Laudholm Farm at 8 am and bird until 12 pm. We are not requiring face coverings while outside, but please bring one to wear inside for bathroom breaks and when in close proximity to others. MYBC will have extra masks on hand if you do not have one.
LOGISTICS: Dress in layers and wear comfortable walking shoes. Bring the following: filled water bottle, snacks/bagged lunch, hat, socks, waterproof hiking boots, etc., binoculars, camera (optional), scope (if you have/want one), notebook & field guide (optional), and a backpack in which you'll keep all your stuff. If you do not have binoculars, MYBC will provide you with a pair. Also note mosquitos and ticks are very prevalent at this location. Bug spray and proper tick prevention procedures are critical.
MEET UP and PICK UP: We will meet at the info booth at Well Reserve at Laudholm at 8 am. The public entrance is located near 55 Skinner Mill Rd, Wells, ME 04090.
PICK UP will be at the same location at 12 pm.
