In 2022 we had 50 species on our June trip to Laudholm Farm including Bobolinks, Least Terns, a very talkative Winter Wren, and many singing Towhees. On June 17th, we’re headed back to the preserve for some spring birding.
The preserve features a large diversity of species to see as we walk through forests, open grassland, marshlands, and beaches. Among the many birds we hope to see are Bobolinks, Piping Plovers and Willets.
We will meet in the parking lot of the Wells Reserve at Laudholm Farm at 8 am and bird until 12 pm.
LOGISTICS: Dress in layers and wear comfortable walking shoes. Bring the following: filled water bottle, snacks/bagged lunch, hat, socks, waterproof hiking boots, etc., binoculars, camera (optional), scope (if you have/want one), notebook & field guide (optional), and a backpack in which you'll keep all your stuff. If you do not have binoculars, MYBC will provide you with a pair. Also note mosquitos and ticks are very prevalent at this location. Bug spray and proper tick prevention procedures are critical.
MEET UP and PICK UP: We will meet at the info booth at Well Reserve at Laudholm at 8 am. The public entrance is located near 55 Skinner Mill Rd, Wells, ME 04090.
