Fort Foster 2024

  • Fort Foster 51 Pocahontas Road Kittery Point, ME, 03905 United States (map)

November is here, and that means it's rarity season in Maine! Join us on November 9th for an exciting trip to Fort Foster in Kittery, one of the top birding spots in the state. This beautiful 88-acre site features three beaches connected by trails, plus a long pier that offers fantastic views of water birds and sights like Whaleback Lighthouse and Jerry's Point Lifesaving Station.

We'll explore the shoreline, wetlands, and wooded trails of Fort Foster, looking for lingering migrant birds and our winter visitors. And of course, we’ll keep an eye out for any rare finds! Don’t miss out on this great opportunity to enjoy birdwatching and connect with fellow teen birders!

LOGISTICS:  Dress in layers and wear comfortable walking shoes.  Bring the following: filled water bottle, a bagged lunch and snacks, sunblock, a hat, sunglasses, binoculars, camera (optional), scope (if you have one), notebook & field guide (optional), and a backpack in which you'll keep all your stuff.  If you do not have binoculars, MYBC can provide you with a pair.
